The Department of Health has announced extensions to the terms of appointment of the Non-Executive Chairs of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT), the Belfast Health and Social Trust (BHSCT) and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS).
Mr Bob McCann's appointment as Non-Executive Chair of the NHSCT was extended from 20 January 2023 and will end on a date not later than 19 April 2023. Mr Peter McNaney's appointment as Non-Executive Chair of the BHSCT was extended from 3 December 2022 and will end on a date not later than 5 April 2023. Mrs Nicole Lappin's appointment as Non-Executive Chair of NIAS was extended from 1 January 2023 and will end on a date not later than 5 April 2023.
The Non-Executive Chair position for the NHSCT attracts an annual remuneration of Pound 31,937 with a time commitment of 3 days per week. For BHSCT the annual remuneration is Pound 37,641 with a time commitment of 3 days per week and for NIAS it is Pound 24,713 with a time commitment of 3 days per week.
These extensions to appointments are made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.
NHSCT, BHSCT and NIAS are classed as health and social care bodies. The approved overall aim for the Trusts is to improve health and social well-being outcomes, through a reduction in preventable disease and ill-health, by providing effective, high quality, equitable and efficient health and social care. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service provides high quality urgent and emergency care and treatment as well as scheduled, non-emergency patient transport services for all the population of Northern Ireland.
The Hospital Trust boards comprise a Non-Executive Chair and seven Non-Executive Directors along with five Executive Directors including the Chief Executive. The NIAS Trust Board comprises a Non-Executive Chair, five Non-Executive Directors and five Executive Directors including the Chief Executive.
